Majah Camp Dampier Peninsula
Following the great work of the Oolah Project, an opportunity now exists to continue Walking Together with community through the development of the Lullumb Majah Camp (Majah means Boss) — a space where culture is lived, shared, and strengthened.
This project brings together the Bardi–Jawi Elders, Lore Bosses, young people, families, and partners to create a culturally grounded environment that honours Lore, protects Country, and builds pathways for the next generation.
Our Purpose
The Majah Camp is designed to :
• Support cultural practices including dance, song, and storytelling
• Provide a safe, purposeful space for gatherings, healing, and on-Country learning
• Strengthen connection to Country through guidance from respected Bardi–Jawi Elders
• Create local livelihoods, training, and skills development opportunities
• Welcome trusted partners walking alongside community through genuine collaboration
• Engage fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, brothers and sisters, school groups, justice programs, and rehabilitation
groups through cultural reconnection
• Empower male and female cultural leaders to guide activities across health, wellbeing, healing, and cultural strengthening
What We’re Building Together :
• Culturally guided camp infrastructure
• Shaded spaces and communal areas
• Clean water, sanitation, and essential services
• Spaces for cultural teaching, leadership, and youth mentoring
• A base for Country revitalisation, environmental regeneration, and cultural programs
Why It Matters
The Lullumb Majah Camp strengthens :
• Cultural continuity for the next generation
• Wellbeing and healing through time on Country
• Youth leadership grounded in identity and belonging
• Community-led economic pathways
• Health, wellbeing, and cultural identity, guided by strong male and female cultural leaders and respected Bardi–Jawi Elders
• A practical demonstration of Corporate Kindness in action — supporting Community, Culture, and Country
How You Can Walk With Us :
We invite aligned partners to contribute skills, materials, equipment, or Kindness Contributions that strengthen Community, Culture, and Country.
Together, we can create a space that honours Lore, supports families, and builds a future our young people can be proud of.
